About the event
What makes the modern-day speakeasy so enticing? Perhaps it’s the echo of its rebellious roots in American history, where whispers of secrecy and the thrill of the forbidden defined the Prohibition Era. Linda McCann is a published Iowa author who specifically researched and wrote about Prohibition in Iowa. You'll learn about Iowans making their own illegal liquor and trafficking it to the rest of the nation. Come learn all about how this unique time period impacted our state! This event is free! Linda will talk about prohibition for 20-30 minutes while you sip on an Old Fashioned (or any other drink of choice). She will then be available for book sales and signings.
The event is free as long as you purchase a drink, yet we ask for RSVP so we can account for space. Opening 3-5 pm, with Linda Speaking at 3:30 pm.
