Welcome to The Speakeasy in Winterset, Iowa - a unique destination for entertainment, craft cocktails, and a dash of Prohibition-era flair!
Our story began with a passion project between Rochelle Burnett and Don Boelens, who fell in love with each other and Madison County at the same time. They sought to create a unique experience that would bring excitement and joy to the community without the need to venture into the big city.
Step into the underground bar, nestled in the former Madisonian newspaper building, and be transported to the roaring twenties. Vintage newspaper decor and era-inspired interior design will have you feeling like you're in a lost era. Knowing that alcohol was once banned in Iowa as early as 1916, you'll feel just slightly naughty induldging in The Speakeasy's fun cocktails and local wines and beer.
Our mission is to provide entertainment and event opportunities usually found in larger cities, right here in the heart of Madison County. Enjoy live music, themed nights, and more - all in an intimate and immersive setting. At The Speakeasy, we're dedicated to creating an unforgettable experience for our patrons.
